Mission Statement The Presbytery of the James (POJ) Youth Council (YOCO) consists of youth and adults from the Presbytery’s churches. Its purpose is to plan, lead and host retreats for middle and high school youth in the Presbytery. The youth work with both volunteer and staff adults to accomplish their mission. Position Details The POJ Youth Council Vice Coordinator (YOCO VC) assists the POJ YOCO Coordinator and will share and help with various tasks related to the business of YOCO. These tasks include: 1. Administrative Tasks
2. Assisting the Coordinator
3. In partnership with Coordinator, the YOCO VC will maintain dialogue with Coordinator concerning decisions that need to be made about direction of YOCO. 4. When the Coordinator cannot attend a retreat or meeting, YOCO VC will act and perform the duties of Coordinator. 5. Responds to the pastoral needs and offers pastoral leadership to Youth Council by: · Regularly praying for members of the YOCO, POJ youth, and their leaders. · Challenging members to grow in their own faith and to take risks in expressions of discipleship. · Responding appropriately to YOCO members who express crisis in their lives. The POJ YOCO VC is accountable to: 1. The Presbytery’s Leadership Ministry Board through the POJ Staff representative working with the Committee on Youth Ministry. 2. The YOCO Coordinator. Hiring Details The POJ YOCO Vice Coordinator will work an average of 10 hours a month at $12 dollars an hour. Employment begins mid-July of every year. The contract may be renewed if a satisfactory job was performed.
