October 13, 2005
Dear Friends:
The Presbytery of the James met in its 61st Stated Meeting on October 11, 2005, at Camp Hanover. While the weather was overcast and cloudy, the spirit was great and the meeting very cordial. We are most grateful to the Camp Hanover Ministries Board for their fine hospitality and the gracious way in which they were our hosts. Rev. Susan Andrews, Moderator of the 215th General Assembly, was our preacher for worship and her sermon focused on stewardship. The New Covenant Church Choir led in music and the Lord’s Supper was administered and the Necrology for Elders and Ministers was read. We made significant decisions for the future of our outdoor ministries which are conducted at Camp Hanover: a master site plan was approved for the camp as well as funds to reconstruct the dam on the camp’s lake. Good discussion ensued on the Overture concerning divestment with respect and cordiality afforded everyone. It was a great day! We are grateful to God for the time and fellowship with one another in Christ.
